VersaUV LEC-330 and LEC-540
Inks ECO-UV
The VersaUV series uses Roland ECO-UV ink in practical 220cc cartridges to print on the most diverse types of material, even flexible, thanks to the particular elasticity of the ink.
The drying time is immediate and the color rendering is perfect, with a high degree of gloss and a large reproducible gamut. ECO-UV is available in CMYK, white and painting combinations.
Special effect on the print
One of the strengths of VersaUV is the ability to print the gloss on the graphics. Polishing has the following advantages:
• Homogeneous glossy effect with uniform light reflection
guarantees harmony in the brightness of the graphics.
• Possibility to polish some areas of the print,
to obtain particular effects or to highlight parts of the graphics.
• Adjustable polishing thickness and manageable by software
• Additional protection against scratches and alcohol-based cleaners.Painting is not available with ECO-UV inks.
Ambient
The LEC series uses a LED technology lamp with a very low absorption, equal to about 350 watts. This avoids having to set up light points for special electrical loads, as can happen with other UV printers.
Thanks to the LED technology, no energy is consumed for heating and cooling the lamp, as happens on those of the halogen type. The LED lamp uses a construction technology that guarantees a very long life, equal to about five times greater than traditional ones.
The VersaUV series has installed a suction filter attachment system for the volatile residues of UV inks. The LEC series, as well as all the new generation Roland peripherals, fully complies with the Energy Star directives, for the protection of the energy consumed.
The constructive architecture is all low consumption and saves costs due to electrical absorption thanks to the automatic shut off function and circuit optimization. VersaUV LEC bears the Eco Label label, because it is produced according to the criteria of respect for the environment both for the materials and the energy sources adopted by Roland DG Corporation in its production centers.
Security
The lamp adopted on the VersaUV series is LED, very low consumption. Its maintenance is very simple and the operator always works with total safety as it has a safe UV emission on a spectrum of non-harmful frequencies. The front cover is designed to completely close the spaces to ensure that the UV rays remain within the printing area.
Thanks to this type of lamp, the amount of heat generated is much lower compared to traditional halogens. It allows a quick drying of the ink and avoids, thanks to the reduced heat emission, the deformation of the material being printed. In this way, it is also possible to print on those materials more sensitive to heat, without turning them into yellow. The maintenance part is performed automatically by the machine, as per Roland tradition and there is also the possibility for the operator to perform manual cleaning when he deems it necessary. Furthermore, a special recirculation system ensures that the pigment of the white ink does not settle, always guaranteeing the optimal viscosity.

Many opportunities with the LEC series
VersaUV LEC-330 and LEC-540 are the Roland UV printers that integrate the printing and cutting function. They have a light of 76.2 cm and 134.6 cm, print in CMYK four-color process and white ink. The LEC series also prints glossy transparent to give the printing of particular three-dimensional painting effects.
Three different ink combinations can be installed:
• CMYK + Gl + Wh to print with transparent painting
and the white ink together with the four-color process.
• CMYK + Gl + Gl to quickly achieve embossing effects.
• CMYK + Wh + Wh to obtain a high white coverage. If the highly elastic ECO-UV S inks are used, only the combination CMYK + Wh + Wh is possible.
VersaWorks™ Dual RIP*
VersaWorks Dual is the latest generation of RIP software developed by Roland DG to take full advantage of the features of your device.
It is designed to optimize the efficiency, speed and print quality of your jobs. Process all the most common graphic formats such as TIFF, JPEG, EPS, PostScript and PDF. It allows you to directly manage complex files with shadows, transparencies, layers with special colors and effects, without the use of additional graphics software.
Allows you to change the color, placement and size of a graphic file, to save time and work more efficiently and quickly. VersaWorks Dual is completely in Italian and is updated for free. Includes other useful features, including:
• Ability to manage white and gloss directly from RIP,
without having to edit the file with a graphic software.
• Calculation of ink consumption, to facilitate the formulation
of the budget.
• Roland Color System Library with more than 1000 spot colors
and 512 metallic colors.
• Automatic management of PANTONE® color conversion
in CMYK values, to get a match
chromatic always perfect.
• Creating and saving the queue settings
printing, to print a job with them
characteristics at a later time.
• Variable Data Function.
• Roland Texture System Library, with 72 textures ready to use.
• Nesting function to optimize the use of the material.
• Ability to manage up to four at the same time
Roland DG peripherals.
• Management of the intensity of the UV lamp to optimize
the polymerization times.* VersaWorks Dual can only be used with VersaUV LEF-20
Cut and Print
VersaUV LEC integrates both printing and cutting (shaping) the graphics printed on adhesive vinyl in a single peripheral. The contour follows exactly the profile desired by the operator.
The technology used on the VersaUV LEC includes a drag system based on non-deformable straps for the carriage part and a highly precise dragging roller for material drag to avoid errors due to eccentricity. The surface of the roller has a knurling designed for the "grip" on the different types of material. A dedicated encoder and a feedback circuit control the exact flow of the material.
Wide range of materials
The VersaUV series prints on multiple types of printing media, precisely to meet the different applications. So we have paper, paper for artistic use, synthetic paper, cardboard, polyester film, PVC and adhesive vinyl.
The cutting and printing feature makes VersaUV LEC a unique solution for vinyl substrates where it is possible to produce graphics in a single size, small productions, packaging prototypes also with special effects, thanks to the use of white and glossy lacquer, manageable the latter also in thickness. The particular conformation of the output cover makes the VersaUV series capable of printing in an optimal way on plastic and cardboard supports, even particularly rigid.
